Cleaning joint parts (type
T joint) |
 |
|
|
|
|
Inside of socket: especially
the ring seal groove and the positioning groove
need to be cleaned. |
Rubber gasket: especially
the positioning gasket. |
Spigot end: the distance between
chamfer and marking needs to be cleaned. |
|
Apply sealing grease on the
ring seal groove inside the socket. |
| |
Install rubber gasket |
 |
|
|
|
Hold the rubber gasket as shown
in the figure. |
Put the rubber gasket into
the socket. Place the rubber gasket with hard
resting edge securely into the resting groove
and seal groove, and press the rubber gasket
flat.
|
|
An alternative way of easy installation
is to curve the rubber gasket at two points, and
place it into the resting groove and seal groove.
Then press the two raised points flat one after
another.
Note: The inside of the resting edge should
not be raised from the resting groove. |
|
Then apply sealing grease onto
the surface of the rubber gasket. |
| |
Installation |
 |
|
|
First well place the pipe to
be installed, then apply a thin film of sealing
grease onto the external surface of the spigot,
especially onto the round corner of the chamfer.
Align the spigot and the pocket, and insert the
spigot into the pocket with a proper tool until
the first marking on the spigot is no longer visible.
Do not remove the tool before the installation
is completed. |
|
When the installation is completed,
inspect the rubber gasket to ascertain if it is
installed correctly with a stock rod. |
| |
Points for attention in
transport and storage |
 |
|
 |
1. When the ductile iron
pipes are loaded on a vehicle, the part stretching
out of the vehicle should not be longer than one
fourth of the total length of the pipes.
2. In handling and stacking of ductile iron pipes,
exercise care not to knock against, deform and damage
the pipes.
3. The ductile iron pipes should be stacked on soft
ground. If the ground is hard, put pieces of wood
under the pipes.
4. When stacked on shelves, each layer of pipes
should be placed so that sockets alternate with
spigots. Put pieces of wood under the pipes. An
upper layer of pipes should be perpendicular to
a lower layer. |
